TALE_OF_TWO_TALES

                                              December 21, 2013
                                              January 31, 2023

One might tell a tale of two tales,
both of them weak... the interesting
thing is the story of both.

Few people would try to tell you that
these two tales were without flaws.

My main point here, though, is that
there were indeed two of them:

    Warren report lone gunman

    HSCA report conspiracy with
                       multiple gunmen

Some historical context:

November 22, 1963 The Assasination of JFK

November 29, 1963 Warren Commission established

September 27, 1964 Warren report published (888 pages) [link]
                            (conclusion: Oswald alone)

    February 21, 1965 Malcolm X assassinated [link]

April 4, 1968 Martin Luther King assassinated [link]

June 5, 1968 Robert F. Kennedy assassinated [link]

                  1976 HSCA established
                         (House Select Committee on Assasinations)

                  1978 HSCA investigation finished

                  1979 HSCA report published [link]
                            (conclusion: Oswald+: a conspiracy)

There's a distinct pattern of
Mainstream Media commentators THE_IMMORTAL_WARREN
doing ritual endorsements of
the Warren commission's findings.

This is a prerequisite for the
speaker to be Taken Seriously.

Pretty frequently, they pretend
that the HSCA report never happened.

    Even if you think it's
usually preferable to go with Or perhaps, use the official
the official story, that's story as the prior belief
complicated in this case: you'll start with to begin
there is no one "official applying your Bayesian-style
    story". tweaks.

I planned to say something about this long
                                ago, but never finished it.

I think the original idea was to use the
                                "personal odyssey" format, something like:

I actually forgot that the HSCA report
existed because it's talked about so
                                   infrequently, I re-discovered it with
some surprise, and looked into some of
                                   the details...

So this was intended to be a story of being
influenced by propaganda in spite of myself.

If anything is said about the HCSA report
at all, it's typically to dismiss if for
relying on some technical evidence that's
         been discredited (or supposedly discredited?)

And the Warren Report, in contrast, is considered
very respectable in spite of being an even
         worse mess.
