    I might go with that.

    If I were designing the system from scratch, I might
    double the size of the jury, eliminate the filtering
    of a selection process, and drop any expectation of
    a unanimous jury, going with something like a 2/3
    majority instead.

    I might give the jury the right to vote someone off
    of the jury, again with a 2/3 majority...
