   A few examples of fashion
   in 1960s science fiction:

In "Stand on Zanzibar", John Brunner has a
   popular company named Maxcess (advertising
slogan: "Maximal Access with Maxcess") that One of their big
specializes in sexually charged clothing products are
   for women. "nipicaps", which
                                                     can simulate
In once scene, a male character erect nipples on

       girlfriend, who is returning home
       wearing her Maxcess outfit consisting
solely of red thigh-highs and a red
rope belt, with one end dangling
       between her legs.

The often prolix Samuel R. Delany,
in his "Time Considered as a Helix
   of Semi-Precious Stones", mentions
some teenage girls on a subway
   platform sporting lights glowing
in their hair wearing some of the
   new transparent plastic blouses.

     Are these just attempts at
     reasonable extrapolation
     from 60s fashion (miniskirts,
     etc)?

But even in it's earliest days,
American SF liked to dwell on the
     epidermis...
