  Sensible beliefs and sensible actions are often disconnected.


  Christainity is transparent nonsense, and
  yet many professed Christians live happy,
  sane, productive lives unimpeded by (and          It is a "madness

  Far closer to the Really Real would be a
  humanism rooted in scientific materialism--
  and yet many of it's adherents have trouble      Pitfalls abound:
  translating their knowledge into a way of

                                                      Libertarianism
        The "higher power" of the 12 steps makes
        us atheists queasy, and yet we're stuck
        with the knowledge that the AA doctrine        BOTTLE
        is the only thing that seems to work for
        alcoholics...

                     The book "Get Up", by Bucky Sinister
                     is entirely about dealing with that
                     apparent contradiction.

                        He makes the point that the
                        usual sophistries people trot
                        out to cover the problem
                        don't really work very well,         His solution is
