A long time ago in a society that now
seems far away, there was a joke video
made at a particular technical conference
where different people at the conference
contributed different silly bits. Not
too much of this video survives out in
the wilds, except in fragments.

   There's one where Damian Conway
   engages in self-parody, doing a
   description of the Perl 6
project that makes it sound crazy.

A friend of mine recently described some other
bits from the video-- there were things like
a woman ranting at the camera complaining about
how male programmers are so obsessed with
breasts while the camera keeps drooping down
to focus on her chest.

This sort of humor is now more or less
forbidden by the behavior codes now
universally in use at such conferences.

The theory behind such behavior codes
is that by making people behave in more
restrained, bland ways, we will expand Using general language
the range of people who feel comfortable to describe this doctrine
at such conferences. always feels weirdly clunky.

                                                    The idea is something like:

                                                    We want more women.

I think it might be worth Talking about sexy
re-examinging this doctrine stuff offends women.
          some time. Like, does it
work? How would you know? We will get more women
Do we have any data? if we we restrain the dorks.
