The "c-or-c" question is definitely appropos, but myself I
would say that there's a *widespread* correlation between the
greatness of the place and it's population density--
                                                 
But there's no reason to think that New York has        
magically found the *right* level and San Francisco     
is at the wrong one.                                    
                                                        
Low population densities *do* have bad effects, but that 
doesn't mean we need infinite population densisty.  
There's presumably a "sweet spot", and it's likely it
