ROBOTISM

In the beginning-- for some definition of the beginning--
was the Republic Robot featured in many a movie serial.

Then came Robbie the Robot originally in "Forbidden
Planet".

Then came "Robot" (more formally, "The B9 Robot")
originally from "Lost in Space".

These robot outfits became standard props, easy to store,
transport and re-use-- and some were reportedly quite
expensive to build, encouraging the re-use, I think-- so
they would ocassionally be trotted out to reappear again
in odd contexts.


      There's a "Lost in Space" episode
      where the Robbie robot appears as a
      villain, and squares off against B9.
         
      Once upon a time there was a TV show    
      nominally about Nick Charles where        That's Nick Charles 
      in one episode Robbie was a murder        from Hammet's the  
      suspect.                                  "Thin Man", probably 
                                                best remembered from
                                                the films with 
                                                William Powell and
