Yesterday:
Yaffa Cafe

Tompkins Square Park
The Tonic
And today the West Village,
but I'm feeling like I'm in a rut,
I'm not seriously exploring because
I don't expect to find anything new. Of course, it could
be the heat.
Or it could be that
I really don't like
being without Raven.
But every so often
I start surfing the
ennui, and start
having a good time
in spite of myself.
Then I see a tall black guy walking
around with a life-size model of
the Virgin Mary on one shoulder,
and a framed painting tucked under No one seems to smile
the other arm, and I feel much at this but me, but
better. a number of them do
stop and look, while
pretending that they're
just waiting to cross
the street.
And "Tea and Sympathy" is excellent,
not crowded at all on this weekday
afternoon. Real seven grain bread
Scottish chedder
Watercress.
Iced black currant,
then a pot of Earl Grey.

Other stuff:
Over-hearing the ex-model running on,
gradually it sinks in that she's another drama queen.
Move to a "nation of drama queens" rant?
The music at the tonic.
Pumpernickle bagels from H&H.
