MAGICAL_GIRL_SHITE

Two new animes out this season,
  "Magical Girl Ore"
  "Magical Girl Site"

Both involve exploiting a stale, decadent form,
though both show radically different symptoms.


       "Magical Girl Ore" is a Satire with a
       100-point capital "S".  Isn't this               UNREALITY_POPS
       Silly?  Wink-wink-WINK.

       Near the beginning of the first
       episode the characters on screen start
       worrying about how they have to subdue
       the monster quickly or the series
       might be canceled.

       Do not make any attempt at watching
       this show, just read the description
       and you'll get all that can be gotten.



      "Magical Girl Site" on the other-hand
      is Bleak.  Everything is grim, the
      loving focus on the bullies bullying
      (before they are justly killed) is             NEGATIVE_TRUTH
      just tiresome, as is the evil, abusive
      older brother, the abused drip of a
      heroine, who is taking way too long to
      get used to the idea that she just
      needs to kill all of these people--

      I got through two episodes of this,
      and might keep going to watch the
      drip-turn-avenger, perhaps including       (Though... does this writer
      killing one or both of her parents...      have the chops to do
                                                 character transformation?)
      The trouble here is that this show
      also goes for the video game logic
      universe, loaded with ridiculous
      arbitrary rules that don't make any
      sense, but have an absurd degree of
      precisely-specified clarity to them:
      the gamesters are okay with an insane
      universe, as long as it's a knowable
      one...


So, here we have two takes on the
magical girl, both of which kill           Two series and three flaws:
the magic, though going in                 (1)  too much humor
different directions.                      (2a) too serious
                                           (2b) a mad watchmaker universe
