From Ginsburg's diaries,
"The Book of Martyrdom and Artifice".
First Journals and Poems 1937-1952, p 121:

Saturday, February 3, 1945

Kerouac is a romantic deluded poet. Burroughs is
a realist, interesting himself in sociology as an
entertainment. Joan Adams has high consciousness--
she chooses to live forsaking ambition and pride.

Keys: Supreme Reality-- the real universe.
          High Consciousness-- worthy thought
          Dilletantism-- action, life.

                                               I wonder about the chain
                                               of thought there.
                                               Kerouac, Burroughs and
                                               Joan don't quite work as
                                               examples of his "Keys".
