   ... and Private Quibbles.

There are different styles of trying
to define the ideals of an organization,
one version is to pick a simple principle
and refuse to explicate it very much,
leaving it up to others to work out what
it means in specific cases.
                                                      EVIL_EYES
   Google: "Don't be evil."
Noisebridge: "Be excellent to each other."

Another approach is to try to cover every possible
ambiguity with detailed rules and examples,
which is guaranteed to be exploited by people who Wikipedia began using the
enjoy learning complex rules and lording their simple approach, but
superior knowledge over others. devolved into complex
                                                      legalisms over time.

The statement of principles in "Search:
WWW" are supposed to be a collection of
very idealistic ideals, but to my ear SEARCH_WWW
they're full of contradictions without any
   acknowledgement that there's tension
   between the different ideals.
