In the early 1970s, the world experienced
an "energy crisis", which is to say the OPEC
nations temporarily raised oil prices and
sent everyone into a panic.

One of the few countries that reacted
sanely to this was France: they built a
large number of nuclear power plants in a
short period of time and got much closer to
energy independence, and did it with a
clean energy source, and consequently their
carbon footprint is very low.

If the rest of the world had reacted to the
Energy Crisis the way France did, we might
not have a Climate Change problem now.
