This was a common joke some years back;

   "Watch out, it's a trap!"                     I quote one
                                                 usage here:

A quirk in the evolution of slang:

There's an alternate term for
"crossdresser" that showed up several
years ago: a nice-looking male
crossdresser developed, these days one
might be referred to as a "trap".

  My guess is this usage is rooted
  in that joke...

      Once upon a time, you might've humorously
      "warned" someone that someone who looked
      female was a transvestite with the line:
      "watch out, it's a trap!".


  Now calling someone a "trap" is
  a term of respect, I think:
  it's flipped from derogatory
  to positive...
