ASSOCIATION

In the original Memex concept, a "link" was
an association between two points in a body
of literature: they were intended to be
created after-the-fact by researchers as they
studied the material.

Doing this kind of "association link" is not natural
to the web.  If you want it, you have to fake it.

I can give you links to two pages, but it's not so easy
for me to point to particular places in those two pages:

I can write a third page about the association, describe it,
and link to it from both places, with backlinks pointing to
the original contexts... that lets you follow one end of the     HISTORY
association easily, the other point is still free floating
on the page...  text-searches can help cover for that, though.
