From Scilabba's article on
Edward Said, in "What Are SCIALABBA
Intellectuals Good For?"
(2009), p.208:

   "The acknowledgment of ignorance is
the beginning of wisdom. Perhaps POLITICAL_AESTHETES
   the acknowledgment of political
irrelevance will prove, for some at
   least, the beginning of political
   commitment."

"I wonder for example if the
   brilliant, precocious Ezra Klein,
   one of the country's leading
experts on health care, has ever
   publicly written the word
   'modernity'-- the lodestone that
Scialabba has wrestled with lo THE_NEW_INTELLECTUALS
   these many years-- and whether
   that is a bad thing.)"

                                   I've felt some periods of
                                   confusion that I thought
                                   might be pregnant confusion,
                                   the beginnings of a new
                                   direction.

That promise has yet to be
born out, as far as I can
                                       tell... but then it's not
like I feel I'm in need of
                                       "new directions".
